Grey Marketing: The unauthorized sale of new / unused products to unauthorized resellers is a growing problem in our industry.

Grey market products become available when authorized business partners sell "new/unused" products to unauthorized resellers. Once these products enter the grey market network, they can be mishandled, i.e., tampered with and resold as new products to the unsuspecting customer.

What is considered NEW product?

The term "new" applies to authentic product that is shipped directly from Nortel for distribution by an authorized business partner in its original packaging and/or software, along with documentation.

New authentic product is distributed through Nortel authorized business partners and is covered by the manufacturer warranty.

Buyer Beware!

At Nortel, we realize that the only way to meet the high standards our customers expect is through the significant reduction of grey market activity. So, before you purchase any Nortel product, take a closer look to make sure you're dealing with an authorized business partner. You have a lot to lose by buying from anyone else.

Tips:

  • Ask your Channel Partner/Reseller or potential service provider, if their technicians have a current Nortel certification to maintain your products.
  • When looking for a Channel Partner/Reseller/service provider be wary of advertisements with the following, "New Current vintage", "New in the box", "Refurbished", "Refurbished to look new" and "Unused".
